LIFE Subsed at the RemTech fair in Ferrara (Italy) – 18-20 September 2019

RemTech is the most specialized event on contaminated sites remediation and territory protection and requalification. The program focuses every year the most topical and interesting themes: regulatory evolution, characterization, risk analysis, remediation technologies, research, innovation, monitoring, environmental controls, industry, sustainability.
During the event, the general activities of the LIFE Subsed project has been described at the CNR stand, as well as its objectives, its main actions and the expected results. Particular attention has been paid to illustrating the problems inherent in the re-use of sediments, but relating them to their potential in different environmental sectors.

LIFE Subsed at the seminar “Fitotecnologie per la Gestione e la bonifica di siti contaminati: esempi di buone pratiche” held in Pesaro – 04 March 2019

On Monday March 4th, the National Seminar “Fitotecnologie per la Gestione e la bonifica di siti contaminati: esempi di buone pratiche” (Phytotechnology for the Management and Reclamation of Contaminated Sites: Good Practice Examples) was held at the Pesaro Provincial Council Hall.

Dr. Grazia Masciandaro, first researcher at the CRN of Pisa, together with Prof. Giancarlo Renella of the University of Florence gave the speech entitled “Fitotecnologie per il reimpiego dei sedimenti fluviali contaminati” (Fitotechnology for the reuse of contaminated river sediments).

The event represented an important opportunity to illustrate objectives, actions and expected results of the LIFE Subsed project. The discussion then focused on the landfarming process to be used as the main technology in the remediation of sediments and other environmental matrices, or as a final refinement process (as proposed in the Subsed project).

The seminar also allowed for a strengthening of relations with important stakeholders in the sector:

  • Andrea Sconocchia, REMTECH scientific committee and GdL Manager Fitoremedio RECONNET;
  • Paolo De Angelis, DIBAF – University of Tuscia;
  • Massimo Fagnano, Dia / CIRAM – University of Naples;

LIFE Subsed at Fruit Logistica in Berlin – 06-08 February 2019

Thanks to the participation of Caliplant at the international Fruit Logistica fair, which was held in Berlin from 6 to 8 January, the objectives and results of the LIFE Subsed project continue to be disseminated. The delegates of Caliplant had the opportunity to meet different stakeholders and policy makers of great importance for the success of the project and the achievement of the objectives set.

Meeting with Francesco Bellino, Officer and Agronomist of the Puglia Region, at the headquarters of the Region in Bari.

During the meeting, Dr. Grazia Masciandaro presented the Subsed project, describing its objectives and expected results. In particular, the conversation covered aspects related to the use of dredged sediments in agriculture, with assessment of limits, advantages and costs. Particular attention has been paid to legislation, which unfortunately does not currently allow the use of reclaimed sediment in agriculture, but for which the LIFE Subsed project is working intensively.

LIFE Subsed at IPM ESSEN 2019 – 22-25 January 2019

From January 22nd to 25th the IPM ESSEN 2019 was held, the most important international fair for the gardening sector. The participation of around 1,600 exhibitors from 50 countries and international experts makes IPM ESSEN the world’s number one platform for the exchange of information and the creation of orders in the gardening sector. From floriculturists to garden center owners, to members of the GaLa, the association of German gardeners and nurserymen, to florists: visiting Messe Essen, everyone will benefit from valuable insights, innovative products and lots of useful information for their business.

The event is a unique opportunity for the dissemination of the LIFE Subsed project, and for the presentation of the future commercial offer that will derive from it. The coordinator Flora Toscana took care to present at its stand the objectives and expected results of the European project LIFE Subsed.

 

During the fair, information material was distributed to the various stakeholders in the sector: the following is portrayed by the project manager LIFE Subsed Dr. Maria Castellani with the manager of the province of Pistoia Renato Ferretti.

 

Furthermore, during the event the networking relationship with the LIFE AgriSed project was further consolidated. In the pictures below, Dr. Castellani delivers information material to the staff of Agri Vivai, coordinator of the LIFE AgriSed project.

Presentation of the Life Subsed project at the Shaanxi Fruit Industrial Group and students of the University of Miguel Hernández – 23 November 2018

Caliplant presents Life Subsed to the delegates of the Shaanxi Fruit Group

On 23 November 2018 Caliplant welcomed to its plants some delegates of the Shaanxi Fruit Industrial Group Co. Ltd., an important Chinese customer engaged in the fruit and vegetable sector. During the visit the objectives and measures envisaged in the Life Subsed project has been illustrated, collecting observations from these important stakeholders.

On the same day there was an on-field visit of UMH‘s students, during which Professor Pilar Legua and Sergio Navarrete of Caliplant illustrated them the project Life Subsed.

Life Subsed at SYA Orihuela 2018, in Spain – 22 November 2018

Life Subsed at SYA Orihuela 2018

Caliplant took part in SYA Orihuela 2018 – III Symposium Internacional del Sector Agroalimentario de la Vega Baja which was held in November in Orihuela (Spain).

Sergio Navarrete, Caliplant’s technician, provided the various subjects he met with information on Life Subsed and its objectives, as well as disseminating and presenting the information material of the project.

The Life Subsed project was presented at the 5th National School of Environmental Monitoring during the event held in Taranto on November 29th and 30th. The information sheet and the agenda of the event are available at the following link.

Dr. Grazia Masciandaro, first researcher at the CNR of Pisa, participated as a speaker with an intervention entitled “Trattamento dei sedimenti di dragaggio per la valorizzazione e l’applicazione agro-ambientale: esperienze di progetti europei“, during which it was also presented the new Life Subsed project.

European Kick-off of LIFE2017 projects in Bruxelles (Belgium) – 06 November 2018

LIFE Subsed takes part in the European kick-off meeting held on 6 November at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Brussels

LIFE Subsed was presented at the European kick-off of LIFE17 projects by Dr. Maria Castellani, project manager for the Flora Toscana coordinator. The event, held at the Crowne Plaza Brussels hotel, represented an opportunity for discussion and networking with other projects and stakeholders from many parts of Europe.
